This conversation about how the safety and wellbeing of abused and neglected children is directly tied to measuring child outcomes within the system. The lack of institutional transparency being discussed in West Virginia CPS applies to every state: A Meaningful Conversation (35 Minute Podcast).
It’s about how:
- Kinship care partners, mentors, volunteers, stability, belonging,
- Effect of lack of public awareness for the egregious incidents, avoidable death, needs of abused and neglected children and the institutions (podcast) that serves them.
- Finding support for children and caregivers, understanding trauma and providing meaningful support for healing and long term success.
- Child abuse preventative programs for safe and healthy children and family.
- Involving the community, raising awareness, advocating for small actions.
- Using data to identify trends and causes for targeted intervention. Health status, educational outcomes can be used to hold institutions accountable for basic outcomes.
- Transparency is a fundamental principal of good governance. Creating the culture of openness and accountability.
- Children don’t exist in isolation, they are part of families, schools, communities and our larger society.
Things we can do as individuals to help.
Hope isn’t passive.
