Policies that keep children in homes with life‑threatening harm on the grounds of unproven or unscientific beliefs—account for avoidable homicidal deaths of hundreds of MN children and many more tortured and near-death experiences annually.
When Child Protection becomes more transparent when studies like the one linked above become common, this reality will be recognized in all other states also. Family Assessments and alternative resources offered (instead of investigating the child’s safety) “alternatives” that can be denied without reopening the child abuse case, are causing more trauma and death among at risk children in all U.S. states today. Arguably, this is happening because America is the only nation in the world failing to ratify the United Nation’s Rights of the Child Treaty* of the 1980’s. Because of this, children have no standing in court and cannot sue for safety or justice in our courts. While Child Protective Services exists to keep American children safe, the overuse of Family Assessment means that children remain in life threatening homes to the point of egregious harm and death in too many cases (read the study in the first link of this post).
Child abuse is a crime and must be treated as such (as it is in all of these other nations). No state should ignore life threatening violence / neglect against children.

*The UN General Assembly adopted the convention and opened it for signature on 20 November 1989 (the 30th anniversary of its Declaration of the Rights of the Child).[10] It came into force on 2 September 1990,[1] after it was ratified by the required number of nations. As of 11 August 2025, 196 countries are party to it, including every member of the United Nations except the United States.[1][9][11][12]
