The following articles illustrates how government policy and law has yet again failed to ensure the safety and well-being of children. Children continue to face sexual abuse, gendered based violence and health crises, among other disastrous circumstances. Advocacy by civil society and humanitarian aid is essential in order to support one of the more vulnerable populations of society.
It hurts me to hear discussions of child abuse and neglect in the language of business that fails to convey the horror of the thing that was done.
Tiny defenseless human beings in terrifying circumstances written and talked about as if highways or funding issues are the issue.
Language is critical to a clear picture of what happened.
When we don’t talk openly about a terrible thing it just does not exist (or it’s not terrible or not a problem).
Too much of the time we use words that mask painful things because we are uncomfortable speaking about them. hout food or water.
We need Congressional Oversight Hearings to review the enormous waste of federal funds that are often used to help dangerous abusers gain custody. We agree the hearings should consider the fraud, corruption and ignorance that waste large sums of money and bankrupt so many litigants. Most important we need oversight about the failure of the courts to protect our most important asset—OUR CHILDREN

For years now, politicians have made political hay by blaming “civil servants” for a multitude of institutional failures that they themselves are directly responsible for due to the poor understanding of underlying issues and lack of concern for the children and poor families that need help.
