It has been a hard spring for Minnesota’s at-risk children.
The nightmare of George Floyd’s murder and the burning, street violence and social upheaval continuing as this already too hot summer gets underway is raining down extra hard on children already suffering the traumas of toxic circumstances.
Closed schools locked abused children with their abusive caregivers.
This additional social violence creates more fear, pain and stress that leads to more drug & alcohol use & more domestic violence, more trauma and less escape from it.
The French have taken over entire hotels to keep families suffering from domestic violence safe during the COVID pandemic.
Thank the people trying to help. It’s not just the brave and committed health care workers, but social workers, educators, foster families and yes, law enforcement people trying to fill in the giant and growing need for public education, health, public safety and child well-being.
Below are the May 2020 news articles in MN about child health, safety, education and the public policies that impact at risk children. Please share these widely and be involved at some level with the people, policies and organizations that make life better for at risk children.
Write, Call, Volunteer as a voice for troubled children – they don’t have a voice in the media, the State House or the courts – they need our voices).
