All Adults Are the Protectors of All Children (Don Shelby)

From US News reporting

Suicide has now become the fifth leading cause of death among both male and female preteens, report a team led by Donna Ruch, of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Ruch works at the hospital’s Center for Suicide Prevention and Research. Her team published its findings July 30 in the journal JAMA Network Open.

While the numbers per million children are low, missing in this discussion is the self-harm and failed suicide attempts that are estimated at 200 per successful very young person suicide.  There is no tracking of child suicide attempts or self-harm in America. This CASA guardian ad litem has seen allot of it and expect that many of the other 100,000 CASA volunteers have too.

Until the more people see this as a problem, this problem will continue to fester. COVID made things much worse for children living in Toxic homes and child protection in America needs more data and tracking to begin understanding these trends.
