Kudos to Wisconsin for having the courage to track and post reports of child death and life threatening harm done to their youngest citizens. This Wisconsin State Website provides a real time snapshot of life threatening incidents and child death in Wisconsin.
Building on the recent Safe Passage Investigative Report of Minnesota children murdered (includes how and why they died) by their parents while in Child Protective Services. Tracking near death experiences will provide a much more accurate indication of the depth and scope of deadly child abuse in our state.
Knowing the numbers are in the thousands and not the hundreds is a first step in facing the inadequacy of our Child Protection System. The Safe Passage study did not include near death and egregious harm (because it’s not reported by CPS). Had it done so, the numbers would have been exponentially higher.
Until Minnesota officials know the depth and scope
of child abuse and death in our state,
it will remain the most tolerated human rights abuse in our State.
