If beatings, rape and terrible things done to child victims in my CASA volunteer Guardian ad Litem caseload were done by me, I would be in jail today. If sex abuse of these children were involved, I would be restricted from living in certain areas of my community and notice of where I live required to appear in the newspaper.

This would not be so, if the victim was my own child.

Very few parents are ever punished for violence committed

upon their children.

Only a fraction of child abuse is ever seen or reported

About half of abuse reports are screened out.

Only a fraction of the children abused

(even violently & over long periods)

are removed from their homes.

It is wrong for (CPS (Child Protective Services) to leave children in  toxic homes (read this linked report on child death by parents in the home) with known high levels of rape, violence and neglect.

If we want a less cruel and criminally violent society, we need to save more children from crimes being committed upon them in the homes they are raised in.

PS: Finally seeing the reality of negative metrics does NOT mean that CPS isn’t doing it’s job, or doing it well. It only means that we are dealing with the reality that abused children live and die with, every day.
